Crypto-Currency Exchange | Insurance Claims Reprocessing

  • Made operational a back-end open source SQL database of a crypto-currency exchange with over 27 million records. Assisted counsel in claims for revised database production due to blanket redactions via SQL queries.

  • Designed an insurance claims reprocessing algorithm for over 10 years and 3 million records of claim line-level data. Took into account individual and family deductibles, co-payments, recalculated co-insurance for 8 insurance plans.

High-Tech | Canadian GAAS

  • Assisted accounting expert in a matter involving violations of U.S. GAAP in the high-tech industry. Examined percentage-of-completion accounting and alleged deficiencies in internal control over financial reporting.

  • Assisted expert with analysis and report related to alleged audit failures of a Canadian firm. Analyzed weather the audits were performed in accordance with Canadian GAAS.

Auditor Defense

  • Assisted testifying expert in an accountants’ professional liability defense case involving review of historical financial returns under Statements on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE 10) and Attest Engagements (AT 101).

Small Business Jeweler - Bookkeeper Embezzlement

Investigated an embezzlement by a small business bookkeeper of 16 years. Uncovered significant losses from embezzlement from fraudulent check schemes (altered payee, alteres account numbers, etc.) Assisited client with submission of:

  • claims to the insurance carriers
  • documents to local law enforcement

Case took over 2 years to resolve and resulted in a full restitution to the victim owners.


Small Electronics Patent Royalty Dispute | Entertainment Royalies Dispute

  • Combined worldwide manufacturing and sales data for a tech small electronics manufacturer. Assisted in recalculation of a multi-year rolling royalties based on device capacities and excluding certain components and jurisdictions.

  • Assisted expert in dispute over determination of royalties due in the entertainment industry. Analyzed royalties related to merchandise, music and soundtrack, concerts, commercial deals and advertising sales. Developed a comprehensive model to account for a royalty-related variables.

Vineyard and Winery Valuation | Fabrics Importer Valuation

  • Prepared a summary valuation report of a Napa winery with leased vineyard, winery, and tasting room co-owned by parents and two of thier childern valued for marital dissolution purposes. 

  • Prepared a valuation report of a New York-based fabrics importer for federal estate tax purposes.
